Information Services Department - Instruction
Library Instruction information for:

The SWOSU Libraries provide instruction in the use of library resources and services for students, faculty, and other patrons. The goals of the Library Instruction Program are to foster knowledge and enthusiasm for the library and its services, and to provide students with essential information literacy abilities that will enhance their academic careers and personal growth. Instruction is offered in group or individual sessions, through interactive presentations, lectures, and live demonstrations. Librarians conduct most instruction in the Library Instruction Room or the instructor's classroom. The Library Instruction Team meets regularly to coordinate and evaluate the Libraries' instruction program.

Information literacy is the capability to "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information."* An information literate individual is able to:

Library Instruction for High Schools

High school teachers who would like to schedule class time at the Al Harris Library should review the Library Instruction for Schools Policy. Teachers can request Library Instruction online or contact Jason Dupree at (580)774-3031.
