All events begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center on the SWOSU campus in Weatherford except the October 4 outdoor concert that takes place at Milam Stadium on the SWOSU campus. MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY!

Top 10 pop and modern rock singles. A huge radio hit with “Stars.” Three hit records in a row. Meet Switchfoot. Their new album, Oh! Gravity, is in stores now. The San Diego-based band has often combined a spiritual bent with a critique of modern society’s hypocrisies on songs like the Top 5 singles “Dare You to Move” and “Meant to Live.”

Joining forces will be Anberlin, the band whose new “bombastic, breathtaking” third album, Cities, is expected to further elevate their success.

Ann J. Simonton is a reformed former supermodel. Yes, she appeared on the covers of Sports Illustrated and Seventeen, and in the pages of Vogue, Cosmopolitan and others. With age and experience, Simonton now explores “Sex, Power and the Media” in her thought-provoking lecture on Nov. 13.

Simonton is the founder and director of MediaWatch, a nonprofit media literacy organization. She has written and produced media literacy videos that are used in schools and universities throughout North America. Their goal is to inspire thousands to take a stance against media bias. Simonton has been arrested and jailed 11 times for her courageous, non-violent and often humorous protests.

Her presentation will confront the issues of corporate ownership, gender, violence, and sexual intimacy as well as ask the big questions: What impact do media images have on our life? How does corporate-controlled media influence democracy? Why does our culture eroticize inequality rather than mutuality and respect?

The Peking Acrobats, a troupe of China’s most gifted tumblers, contortionists, jugglers, cyclists and gymnasts, will demonstrate their 2,000-year-old tradition of acrobatics on Valentine’s Day at SWOSU. Complemented by live musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments, the Peking Acrobats astound audiences with their bravery and dexterity in such feats such as the Human Chair Stack.

They have appeared on numerous television shows including The Wayne Brady Show and NBC’s Ring in the New Year Holiday Special, as well as on the silver screen in all three films in the Ocean’s Eleven franchise.

Blue, who has cerebral palsy, has been a fast-rising star since his first appearance on Comedy Central’s Mind of Mencia to his win on Last Comic Standing. Don’t miss this huge crowd-pleaser.
