Alumni and Friends Activities Planned During SWOSU Jazz Festival
Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s 35th annual Jazz Festival is coming up February 10-12 on the Weatherford campus, and several fun activities are planned involving alumni and friends of the SWOSU Music Department.
On both February 10 and 11, SWOSU will have an alumni jazz band directed by Dr. Terry Segress and Dr. Bob Chambers. Then on Saturday, February 12, SWOSU will have an alumni chorus directed by recently retired Dr. Charles Chapman and an alumni concert band directed by Dr. James South.
The alumni jazz band will rehearse on February 10 at 8:15 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center with a concert planned on Friday, February 11, at 7 p.m. right before an 8 p.m. Jazz Festival concert.
The alumni chorus and concert band will rehearse on Saturday morning, February 12, at 10 and 11 a.m., respectively, in the Fine Arts Center. The alumni choir and Southwestern Singers will perform at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday followed by the alumni concert band and Southwestern Wind Ensemble at 3 p.m., both in the Fine Arts Center. The public is invited, and admission is free.
The alumni activities are taking place in conjunction with the SWOSU Jazz Festival that will feature saxophonist Michael Cox, trumpet player Tom Williams, trombonist Robert Chambers, saxophonist and keyboard player David Hanson, bassist Lynn Seaton, drummer Drori Mondlak and vocalist Delores King Williams.
The Jazz Festival concerts are planned for Friday, February 11, at 1 and 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center.
