Athletic Training Camp Planned This Summer at SWOSU
February 16, 2005
Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s athletic training program is planning an athletic training camp this summer on the Weatherford campus.
The camp, which is for high school students in grades 9-12, will be held June 23-25 on the SWOSU campus.
Ron Walker, director of the athletic training education program at SWOSU, said the camp is beneficial for high school students who are currently assisting school athletic programs with athletic training needs. The camp is also designed to benefit students who are considering an athletic training career in the future.
Topics that will be covered include an introduction to athletic training; athletic training supplies; heat illness; equipment fitting; wound care; common injuries, care and treatment for the foot and ankle, knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand; and emergency procedures including splinting of the extremities and care for spinal injuries.
Additional information about the camp is available by calling (580) 774-3186 or at www.swosu.edu/atep.
