Constitutional Debate at SWOSU on September 13
A Constitutional debate will take place this Tuesday, September 13, at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
The 7 p.m. event in the Fine Arts Center is being sponsored by the political science faculty at SWOSU. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
The debate is just one of several activities being held on the SWOSU campus as part of a nationwide effort to celebrate Constitution Day on September 17. SWOSU and area public schools are celebrating Constitution Day activities from September 8-19.
Area public schools will be sending their students to SWOSU during the week of September 12-16 to enjoy an educational program on the Constitution as well as sign a 60-foot replica on the Constitution. Students will receive a hip pocket Constitution, a project which is being funded by the SWOSU Student Government Association, the Collegiate Activities Board and the SWOSU Foundation.
SWOSU is also sponsoring an essay contest for students of all ages. The deadline for essays is September 19. Additional information about the contest is available on the SWOSU website at www.swosu.edu.
Additional information about any of the Constitutional Day activities is available by contacting Cindy Dougherty in the SWOSU Dean of Students’ office at 580.774.3767.
