Wellness Center Open House This Friday at SWOSU

An open house at the new Wellness Center at Southwestern Oklahoma State University will be held this Friday, September 23, starting at 9 a.m.

According to director Nelson Perkins, there will be free hot dogs and cokes from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Dodge ball and 3-on-3 basketball tournaments for SWOSU students are scheduled that evening in conjunction with homecoming. Registration begins at 6 p.m. with the tourneys starting around 7 p.m.

There will be a formal dedication ceremony for the Wellness Center on December 2.

The Wellness Center is a 72,000 square foot building. The entrance area features an impressive rock-climbing wall. Also downstairs are three basketball courts, two aerobics rooms, classrooms and a Freshens health bar. There are offices for Student Health Services, Student Counseling and Intramurals. On the second floor, there is a walking track and a huge area for cardio equipment, including treadmills, runners, stationary bikes and weight-lifting equipment.

The public is invited to the open house.
