Ayers is New Upward Bound Director at SWOSU
Jamie Ayers is the new director of the Upward Bound program at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Ayers comes to SWOSU from East Central University in Ada where she was employed with the Upward Bound office since 1991. She started out as secretary/office manager of the office and, for the last nine years, has been the academic assessment coordinator/counselor for the ECU Upward Bound program.
Ayers is a 1994 graduate of East Central University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. She also completed a Master of Science in Human Resources degree from ECU in 1996.
She has been a member of the Oklahoma Division of Student Assistance Programs and the Southwest Association of Student Assistance Programs since 1991.
Upward Bound is a challenging pre-college program designed to provide motivation and academic skills needed to prepare students for success at the post-secondary level. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Upward Bound offers a program of rigorous academic instruction, a supportive peer environment, and exposure to new learning opportunities to eligible area high school students.
SWOSU’s Upward Bound program serves the high school students of Anadarko, Binger-Oney, Burns Flat-Dill City, Canton, Carnegie, Clinton, Elk City, Ft. Cobb-Broxton, Hammon, Hobart, Mt. View-Gotebo, Riverside, Sayre, Seiling, Thomas-Fay-Custer, Watonga and Weatherford.
