Summer Courses in Spanish and French Available at SWOSU
The Department of Language Arts at Southwestern Oklahoma State University will offer courses in both French and Spanish this summer on the Weatherford campus.
Elementary French I and Elementary Spanish I will be offered June 6-July 5, and Elementary French II and Elementary Spanish II will be offered July 6-August 3.
Robin Tippin will teach both French courses. She is an adjunct instructor offering the classes only during the summer. She has her master’s degree from Oklahoma State University and teaches French at Edmond High School during the regular academic year.
“We are especially pleased to be able to schedule a French course this summer,” said Dr. Jill Jones, chair of the SWOSU Language Arts Department. “It will enrich and broaden our offerings to students and the community.”
Susan Al-Jarrah will teach Elementary Spanish I, and Linda Hertzler-Crum will teach Elementary Spanish II. Both instructors have taught Spanish at SWOSU for many years. These intensive summer Spanish courses have proven popular with students needing to meet a language requirement for their major or to develop an important language skill for their jobs.
The French courses are scheduled from 11 a.m.-1:40 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Spanish courses are taught from 8-10:40 a.m. Monday through Friday. Students may register online through Campus Connect or through the Registrar’s Office in the Administration Building on the Weatherford campus.
