SWOSU Music Department Plans April Concerts

Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Music has a wide variety of concerts planned for the remainder of the spring semester on the Weatherford campus.

Admission is free to all concerts, and the public is invited. The concerts are:

  • Monday, April 17, Community Chorus performs Gilbert & Sullivan music at 8:15 p.m. in Room 101 of the Music Building. The chorus is directed by Jonathan Stewart, instructor of music.
  • Wednesday, April 19, Brass Ensemble at 7 p.m. in Room 101 of the Music Building. The ensemble is conducted by Janis South, instructor of music.
  • Thursday, April 20, Percussion concert at 7 p.m. in Room 101 of the Music Building. The concert will be directed David Bessinger, assistant professor of music.
  • Sunday, April 23, Jazz Ensembles “A” & “B” will perform at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Jazz Ensemble “B” is conducted by Nathan Rapson and Jazz Ensemble “A” is conducted by Dr. Terry Segress, professor of music.
  • Tuesday, April 25, Symphonic Orchestra will perform at 8:15 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. The Symphonic Orchestra is conducted by Dr. Robert Chambers, professor of music.
  • Wednesday, April 26, Symphonic/Community Band will perform at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. The Symphonic/Community Band is conducted by Dr. James South, associate professor of music.
  • Thursday, April 27, SWOSU choral concert featuring four groups at 8:15 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center lobby. The choral groups performing are: Men’s Chorus, conducted by Jonathan Stewart; Women’s Chorus, conducted by Joyce Adams Curtis; Chamber Choir, conducted by Jonathan Stewart; and Southwestern Singers, conducted by Charles Klingman.
  • Friday, April 28, Wind Ensemble will perform at 8:15 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. The Wind Ensemble is conducted by Dr. James South, associate professor of music.
