Former Ambassador to Speak at Student Conference at SWOSU
Former United States Ambassador Edward J. Perkins will speak at an underrepresented students conference at Southwestern Oklahoma State University this Thursday, April 20, at the Wellness Center on the Weatherford campus.
The conference will be held 9 a.m. until 12 noon, and everyone is invited. Admission is free.
Richard Subia, academic coordinator for underrepresented students at SWOSU, said the conference will allow students and faculty, as well as the general public, to find out about some of the underrepresented student organizations available at SWOSU. There will also be a panel discussion on key student issues.
Perkins is the featured speaker. He served as President Bill Clinton’s representative to the Commonwealth of Australia from 1993 until 1996. He then became executive director of the International Programs Center at the University of Oklahoma where he continues to serve as the director as well as William J. Crowe Chair Professor.
Following the conference, there will be food and exhibitions by different organizations.
