SWOSU Orchestra Plans Pops Concert

The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Symphony Orchestra will have its spring pops concert this Tuesday, April 25, on the Weatherford campus.
The concert will be held at 8:15 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the SWOSU campus. Admission is free, and the public is invited.
Selections will include The Carnival of the Animals and movie music from The Gladiator and Pirates of the Caribbean.
The concert will open with Camille Saint-Saens, Carnival of the Animals, a grand zoological fantasy. Composer Saint-Saens ingeniously portrays a menagerie of animals in a musical salute to feathers, furs and fins. The piano solos will be performed by faculty members Dr. James Breckenridge and Dr. Dennis Widen. The cello solo, the Swan, will be performed by Kathy Dobrinski and the double-bass solo, the Elephant, by JoAnne Rogers. Joining in the performance will be violin professor David Robillard. SWOSU voice faculty member, Charles Klingman, will present the narration, a collection of poetry by Ogden Nash. Pirates of the Caribbean will be conducted by graduate assistant, Angela Krieger. The orchestra is conducted by Dr. Robert Chambers.
