Two SWOSU-Sayre Students Win National AMT Writing Contest

Southwestern Oklahoma State University-Sayre students Joyce Dodson (left) of Erick and Michelle Culver (right) of Elk City won the top two honors in the recent American Medical Technologists’ national technical writing awards competition. With the pair is faculty sponsor Roxann Clifton.
Michelle Culver of Elk City won first place and Joyce Dodson of Erick won second place in the contest. Culver’s paper is titled “Updates on Lyme Disease” and Dodson’s is “Charcot Joint Disease.”
Both students will receive their plaques and monetary awards while attending the AMT national convention this June in Reno, Nevada. The students will also be able to attend scientific seminars, meet with laboratory professionals, and see how a professional society is organized and managed.
Under the guidance of MLT program director Roxann Clifton, a total of 18 SWOSU-Sayre students have won awards during the past 12 years in the national competition.
