SWOSU Professor Attending Two National Conferences
Dr. Jill Jones, professor of English and chair of the Department of Language Arts at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, will participate in two national conferences in June.
Jones was elected as one of three state delegates to the annual American Association of University Professors meeting in Washington, D.C. by the Oklahoma Conference of AAUP. The theme for the June 8-10 meeting is “The Public Image and the Private Reality of Faculty.” Jones is currently state president of the Oklahoma Conference of AAUP and serves on the national accreditation committee.Then on June 26-29, Jones will attend a seminar for chairs of departments of English in Blaine, Washington. This Summer Seminar West is sponsored by the Association of Departments of English, a group affiliated with the Modern Language Association. Jones will co-moderate a panel on Academic Freedom with Doug Steward of the national MLA office in New York.
