SWOSU Student Body President Serving as Intern at OCPA
Garrett King, student body president at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, is serving as a summer intern with the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs (OCPA).
OCPA is a policy center located near the State Capitol in Oklahoma City that has a mission to formulate and promote public policies consistent with the principles of free enterprise and limited government.
King, a Binger native and the son of Gary and Lisa King of Binger, is in his second year at SWOSU. He is double majoring in history/political sciences.
“OCPA is such an exciting place to work and serve,” King said, “The skills I learn and the relationships forged here will no doubt be a benefit to me as I continue my education and advance my career.”
OCPA President Mark Nichols said the group’s current class of five interns comes from university campuses in Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. The interns are selected through a highly-competitive process.
“Previous interns at OCPA now serve in key positions in government and politics, higher education, business and philanthropy,” said Brian Hobbs, OCPA’s director of marketing. “These students represent our future and hold great promise to effect positive change.”
