SWOSU Panorama Series Announced for 2006-07
Comedians Pauly Shore and Tracy Morgan, the world-famous Harlem Gospel Choir of New York City, and television drama CSI forensics consultant Dr. Gary Telgenhoff are the featured performers for the upcoming 2006-07 Panorama series at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Tracy Morgan will kick off the series on Tuesday, October 3. Morgan is an actor most known for being a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1996 to 2003. One of his recurring SNL characters was Brian Fellow, host of "Brian Fellow's Safari Planet.” Other characters include Dominican Lou, Bishop Don "Mack" Donald (from Pimp Chat) and Woodrow.
Dr. Gary Telgenhoff is the forensics consultant on the hit television drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. His talk on Tuesday, December 5, is entitled “Speak for You: The Real CSI.” He is currently employed as a forensic pathologist and deputy medical examiner at the Clark County Coroner's Office in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The world famous Harlem Gospel Choir is one of the pre-eminent gospel choirs in the world and will come to western Oklahoma on Tuesday, January 23. The choir was founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, who got the idea for the choir while attending a celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the renowned Cotton Club in Harlem. The choir is a gathering of the finest singers and musicians from various Black Churches in Harlem.
Pauly Shore will come to SWOSU on Wednesday, March 7. Shore began his career in stand-up and a few bit parts in several late-1980s movies. His big break came when he became an MTV host, a position he held from 1989-1994. Pauly had his own show, Totally Pauly, and served as a traveling ambassador, most memorably on MTV's annual Spring Break parties. Currently, Shore has a reality show on TBS titled Minding the Store.
Brian Adler, chair of the Panorama Committee, said all events begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center on the SWOSU campus. Advance tickets for the Pauly Shore, Tracy Morgan and Harlem Gospel Choir events are $10 for SWOSU students and $20 for non-students. All tickets at the door are $25.
