Singers Needed for SWOSU Community Chorus

August 31, 2006

Singers are being invited to join the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Community Chorus that begins practice on September 11 in Weatherford.

The chorus is comprised of area residents as well as SWOSU students and faculty. Director Jonathan Stewart said there are no auditions and no fees to pay. He encourages anyone who would like to participate in the weekly gathering.

Later this fall on November 20, the SWOSU Community Chorus will perform Messiah by G.F. Handel.

“Our performance of the Messiah last year was a great success, and I look forward to continued growth this year,” Stewart said.

Practices are on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. in Room 101 of the Music Building, located just northwest of the Fine Arts Center on the SWOSU campus. Stewart said new members will be accepted through the end of September.

For those who may be interested in college credit for this chorus, Stewart said this can be done as well.
