ASHP Officers Heading Membership Drive
September 7, 2006
The Southwestern Oklahoma State University student chapter of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists has elected its officers for the 2006 fall semester on the Weatherford campus.
The SWOSU chapter is part of a 30,000 member national association, which represents pharmacists who practice in hospitals, health maintenance organizations and other components of health care systems.
"ASHP helps prepare pharmacy students for a career outside of the retail drugstore," ASHP President-Elect Cassi Mettry of Wynnewood said.
ASHP caters to pharmacy students in both the professional and pre-professional curriculum offering guest speakers, an annual clinical skills competition, and numerous service projects to support the Weatherford area.
This fall members will travel to Anaheim, California, to attend the 41st national ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition.
Students interested in receiving more information about the organization are encouraged to attend the September 18 membership drive meeting at 7 p.m. in Room 317 of the Chemistry, Pharmacy, Physics Building on the SWOSU campus. Additional information is available from ASHP President Rachel Adams of Choctaw at email@example.com
Other officers of the ASHP are: Jaime Miller, Cabot AR, secretary; Donovan Fuller, Sand Springs, treasurer; Ashley Rowe, McKinney TX, fundraising chair; and Kim
