Visiting Artist Program Started by SWOSU Art Department
Southwestern Oklahoma State University has launched a new Visiting Artist Program on the Weatherford campus, and two events are planned for the first part of October.
E.K. Jeong, director of the program, said the programs are free and open to the public. Events are co-sponsored by the Oklahoma Arts Council, Weatherford Arts Council and SWOSU.
James Fossett will have an exhibition of photographs/video works October 3-6 and 9-10 in the Art Building Gallery. Times are 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day. A reception to meet Fossett will be held on Thursday, October 5, at 6:30 p.m. in the Art Building while a Gallery Talk—in which Fossett will talk about his works—will follow at 7 p.m.
The other event will also be held on Thursday, October 5, when artist Suzanne Stokes does a presentation at 7:45 p.m. in the Art Building. Under the name CaveDogs, Stokes brings together visual artists, musicians, dancers, storytellers and writers in the spirit of experimental interdisciplinary collaboration.
In this unusual forum, Jeong said individuals from varying artistic arenas can come together to exchange ideas and produce work within a creative community.
