Softball Tourney by SWOSU Sorority to Benefit Relay for Life
October 9, 2006
A coed softball tournament with all proceeds benefiting Relay for Life is being planned for Saturday, October 14, by the Sigma Sigma Chi social sorority at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
The tourney will be held at the softball fields at Rader Park.
Rhiannon Goodson of Sigma Sigma Chi said each team may have 10 to 12 players on the roster. Each player is responsible for a $10 entry fee with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. A minimum of five female players must be playing on the field at all times.
Each player will receive lunch, drink and a t-shirt. The winning team will be awarded a trophy as well as individual prizes.
Rosters and money may be turned into two locations on the SWOSU campus: Wellness Center and Room 214 of the Stafford Center. Teams can also enter by calling (405) 590-4443 for confirmation.
“This is a great opportunity for students and the community alike to come together and give to such an amazing organization such as the American Cancer Society,” said Cashlie Hines, president of Sigma Sigma Chi. “The tournament was a great success and loads of fun last year. This year, we are hoping for an even bigger turnout.”
