Chili Cook-Off Planned During SWOSU Homecoming
A chili cook-off benefiting Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Oklahoma City is planned for Saturday, October 28, in conjunction with homecoming activities at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
The Collegiate Activities Board at SWOSU is putting on the chili cook-off and invites all area residents to enter. CAB Director Shameika Williams said there is no registration fee.
The money raised to benefit CFF will come on Saturday, October 28, when tasting begins at 4 p.m. in the Wellness Center. Cost will be $5 to taste test the chili and, for $2 more, the general public can taste the winning chili recipe. SWOSU students pay half price with their ID card. The money raised from the cook-off will be donated to CFF on behalf of the child of a SWOSU student.
Williams said each contestant will receive a certificate of participation and the winner will receive a “Chili Cook-off Champion” trophy along with a $100 gift card to the Follett bookstore.
All registrants will have the option of releasing their recipes for publication at a later date. Each entrant must bring two gallons of their favorite chili to the Wellness Center by 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, and be fully set up by 3 p.m. Rules and an application for contestants are available on the following website:
Please turn in completed applications to the SWOSU Dean of Students Office, Room 214 of Stafford Center, by Thursday, October 26, by 5 p.m. For individuals unable to view the rules and application on a computer, call the CAB office at 580.774.7153 and the information will be delivered.
