Veterans Honored at SWOSU Memorial Student Center Activities

Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Student Government Association and the Collegiate Activities Board hosted a Veteran’s Day celebration November 13 on the Weatherford campus.

Former Prisoner of War Harold Goldmann was among the veterans honored.	Retired U.S. Air Force Major General Susan Lewellyn Pamerleau was the featured speaker at the event.

Veterans from the area were honored at a luncheon, and a student ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated Memorial Student Center was held. SWOSU President John Hays, Provost Blake Sonobe and Vice President Tom Fagan, all veterans, were specially recognized.

Cutting the ribbon for the renovated Memorial Student Center is SWOSU SGA President Garrett King. Among those in attendance were (from left) SWOSU Dean of Students Cindy Dougherty; SGA representative Jessica Speegle; Weatherford Mayor Mike Brown; Sergeant Jeff Shields; SWOSU President John Hays; SWOSU Provost Blake Sonobe; CAB director Shameika Williams; SWOSU Vice President Tom Fagan; SWOSU Associate Provost Cindy Foust; and SWOSU Physical Plant Director Rick Skinner.

A formal dedication of the Memorial Student Center is planned for Friday, December 1. Tickets are available at the SWOSU Office of Institutional Advancement or by calling (580) 774-3267.
