McCarter Wins Weatherford AAUW Scholarship
Southwestern Oklahoma State University student Shalisa McCarter of Forgan was recently awarded the $300 Nancy McClain Honorary Scholarship by the Weatherford American Association of University Women (AAUW) branch.
The award will assist with expenses for the 2007 spring semester at SWOSU.
McCarter will graduate in 2007 with a major in psychology. She is interested in continuing her education in a forensic psychology graduate program. While attending SWOSU, she has been an active member of the Psychology Club. She is currently serving as president. She has participated as a research assistant in the Psychology Department since 2005. She gained experience in all phases of the campus studies plus presented findings at the SW Regional Psychological Convention in Austin, TX.
McCarter has worked throughout college as a tutor with the Title VII Indian Education Program, helping Native American students improve achievement and reach their full potential. McCarter is also employed part-time at the Weatherford Public Library.

The Nancy McClain Honorary Scholarship is funded through community projects of the branch and the Nancy McClain SWOSU Foundation Fund. The award is made each December to a woman graduating from SWOSU in the next calendar year.
