SWOSU Community Chorus Plans Oklahoma Centennial Celebration Salute
The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Community Chorus is planning a salute to the Oklahoma Centennial Celebration and will begin its 2007 spring semester rehearsal schedule on Monday, January 22, at 7 p.m.
The public is invited to join the chorus, which has rehearsals on Monday evenings in Room 101 of the Music Building on the SWOSU campus in Weatherford. Over 60 people participated in this past fall’s chorus.
Director Jonathan Stewart said the chorus will be preparing a program entitled “Oklahoma Centennial Celebration: Salute to the Broadway Musical.” In the program, the Community Chorus will sing several medleys from Broadway musicals including Oklahoma and Big River. The program will also include medleys of patriotic pieces by Irving Berlin and George M. Cohen. The public performance is set for April 12.
“This will be a very exciting program,” Stewart said. “Students, faculty, staff and community members are all invited to participate. All voice parts are needed.”
