Skinny Road Walkin' Competing for Spot on One Tree Hill
January 19, 2007
Southwestern Oklahoma State University student Joe Weaver of Carnegie and SWOSU graduate Danny Maples of Durant need some help.
The two are members of Christian rock band Skinny Road Walkin’ and the band is one of five finalists in a contest to appear in an episode of the popular show One Tree Hill on the CW network.
The band was chosen from hundreds of artists that submitted ring tones to Cingular Wireless for the contest. SRW is the only band from Oklahoma.
Weaver said the band would appreciate votes from area students and residents. The online voting continues until this Monday, January 22 at 12 midnight. Go to www.cwtv.com and click “rock the prom.” Weaver said people can listen to their ring tone, read about the band and vote for Skinny Road Walkin’, once each day. Additional information about the band is available at www.myspace.com/skinnyroadwalkin.
Weaver, who is the lead singer and a guitarist, is a senior at SWOSU, majoring in general business. Maples, the band’s bass player, graduated in 2006 with a degree in chemistry.
The band’s first full length CD with 11 original songs came out last spring. It has been played on many radio stations across Oklahoma.
