SWOSU Women's Chorus Selected as Honor Choir

The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Women's Chorus, directed by Joyce Adams Curtis, was recently selected as one of the honor choirs at the 65th annual Oklahoma Music Educators Association convention held in Tulsa.
Choirs from across the state were judged previously and those with the highest scores were selected to perform for the music educators at the convention that concluded January 21. The Women's Chorus also served as a demonstration choir for the choral directors workshop.
The SWOSU Women's Chorus is a non-auditioned choir that rehearses twice weekly. The choir performs two concerts each semester.
Pianist for the chorus is Jennifer Mansour, piano major from Edmond. Chorus members include Vania Addo, Andrea Cardenas, Kelly Chancey, Telisha Christian, Amanda Clevenger, Colette Cooper, Laurin Curtis, Amanda Desadier, Daisy Garcia, Brittaney Gibson, Paige Hagerman, Sarah Hawkes, Lauren Helmke, Shanna Horton, Amanda Isenbart, Kelsey Jones, Kelsey Kuykendall, Laurin Lanning, Heather Leach, Sarah Locke, Roseanna Lodes, Michaela Logan, Anna MacDonald, Rachel McCurdy, Candace Meadows, Allison Meriweather, Raven Miller, Marcella Muller, Jennifer Owens, Kendra Ray, Katy Rollins, Tiffany Romasanta, Lona Scott, Amber Soliz, Katie Tait, Amanda Tyson, and Sandra Warren.
Soloists were Allison Meriwether, soprano; Katherine Rollins, soprano; Sandra Warren, mezzo-soprano; Raven Miller, mezzo-soprano. Colette Cooper joined Jennifer Mansour in a piano duo accompaniment. Additional instrumentalists were A.J. Stegall, James Edwards, A.J. Powell, Stephen Gooch on horns as well as Sarah Stevens and Brittany DeLao on bassoons. Also performing were Jeremy Parr, vibraphone, and Anna MacDonald, wind chimes.
Concert selections included the following: "Magnificat", Stroope; "O Sacrum Convivium", Weidner; "Ellens Zweiter Gesang" (Ellen's Second Song), Brahms; "There Is Sweet Music", Gawthrop; "Byla cesta", Czech Republic; "Moses Led His People", Curry; and "The Dream Keeper", Ramsey.
