SWOSU Students Organizations Now Have Voice in Government
February 12, 2007
SWOSU student organizations may now begin sending representatives to the Student Senate, according to SWOSU Student Body President Garrett King of Binger.
Students recently ratified amendments to the SWOSU Student Constitution in a special referendum. The amendments were approved by the Student Senate during the 2006 fall semester as Senate Bill F06001, “The SGA Representation and Organization Act of 2006.”
“Each student organization registered with the Dean of Students Office may send one senator for representation,” King said.
Before organizational senators can begin serving in the government, they are required to complete a verification form, which is available in the Dean of Students’ office (Stafford Center 214). Once they have completed this form, they may bring it to any Student Senate meeting to begin participating in campus decision-making.
The Student Senate convenes every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Bernhardt Hall (Stafford 104). Verification forms will also be made available at the actual Senate meetings to students representing organizations. The form requires the signatures of the organizational leader and one of the student organization’s faculty sponsors.
