Tryouts Set for SWOSU Bulldog Blitz Talent Show
February 16, 2007
The Bulldog Blitz Talent Show at Southwestern Oklahoma State University will have open tryouts March 6-7 on the Weatherford campus.
This year’s theme is “Bulldog Music Awards,” which is fashioned after the Grammy Awards.
Tryouts will be held in the SWOSU Conference Center, located at the corner of Seventh and Davis Streets in Weatherford. To set up an auditioning spot, interested individuals may call the Collegiate Activities Board at (580) 774-7153.
The Bulldog Blitz will actually take place on April 3 at 7 p.m. in the SWOSU Fine Arts Center.
Shameika Williams, director of CAB, said to enter the individual category, the contestant must be a student currently enrolled at SWOSU. However, in the group category, only one member of the group is required to be an enrolled SWOSU student.
Williams said all talents are welcome from jugglers to rappers and everything in-between. Audition judges will be the CAB Blitz Committee of five persons. Applicants are not expected to come dressed in “performance wear” but must be prepared to show talents that represent the act they intend to perform at the talent show.
At the Bulldog Music Awards, a pre-selected group of students will be competing for $500 in each of the individual and group categories.
“The theme of the Blitz simply tells the audience what CAB hosts will be doing in-between acts,” Williams said. “So they can expect some Grammy-licious entertainment!”
Last year’s Bulldog Blitz, which lasted 90 minutes, was viewed by over 700 people. Heather Leach, who is in training for the CAB director position for next year, expects another big audience this year. Audience response will be a part of the judging at this year’s show.
