SWOSU Students and Faculty Attend Oklahoma Research Day Activities
Students and faculty from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford recently participated in Oklahoma Research Day.
The event was originally scheduled for December 1 but was cancelled due to an ice storm. The event was rescheduled for April 6 and was held in Edmond.
The Oklahoma Research Day featured research posters and oral presentations prepared by both Oklahoma students and faculty. The research day provides an opportunity for regional university students and faculty from all disciplines to showcase their research activities.
Presenters were invited to attend a banquet in their honor with Dr. Glen Johnson, the new Chancellor for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, as the keynote speaker.
Participating SWOSU faculty and students represented the following SWOSU Colleges: College of Arts & Sciences (Department of Chemistry/Physics and Department of Biology); and College of Professional & Graduate Studies (School of Allied Health, Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology, and Department of Entrepreneurship and Computer Systems).
The day was organized by the Council on Research for Regional Universities (CRRU) and was sponsored by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE), Oklahoma Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), National Science Foundation, Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST), and several Oklahoma regional universities including SWOSU.
Provost Blake Sonobe and Anita Blankenship, director of the Office for Sponsored Programs, are SWOSU’s representatives on the CRRU.
