Oklahoma State Treasurer to Headline SWOSU PLC Event
Oklahoma State Treasurer Scott Meacham will be guest speaker at this Monday’s (April 23) first-ever President’s Leadership Class banquet at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
The dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Memorial Student Center Ballroom on the SWOSU campus. The current PLC at SWOSU will be recognized, and members of the 2007-08 class will be introduced to those in attendance, according to PLC director Randy Beutler.
Meacham is the 17th state treasurer of Oklahoma. He was appointed by Governor Brad Henry on June 1, 2005 to fill the unexpired term of Robert Butkin who resigned to take a position in higher education. Prior to becoming treasurer, Meacham, 43, served as Governor Henry’s Director of State Finance. He continues to serve on the governor’s cabinet as Secretary for Revenue and Finance.
Meacham oversees the investment of nearly $4 billion of state funds.
Meacham, a certified financial planner, formerly served as chief executive officer of First National Bank & Trust of Elk City. He is a fifth generation Oklahoman and a graduate of Chickasha High School and the University of Oklahoma. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance, a Masters of Business Administration and a law degree.
He and his wife, Susan, and their four children, Trevor, Evan, Kady and Lucas, make their home in Edmond.
