Moore Named SWOSU Pharmacy Outstanding Alumnus for 2007
Paul David Moore of Atoka has been named the 2007 Outstanding Alumnus of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy in Weatherford.
Moore will be honored during the SWOSU College of Pharmacy Awards and White Coat Ceremony on Monday, April 30, at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center on the SWOSU campus.
Born in 1954 in Walnut Creek, Calif., Moore relocated to Oklahoma and graduated from Atoka High School in 1972. After completing his pre-pharmacy courses at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Moore moved to Weatherford at attend the College of Pharmacy at SWOSU, where he graduated with highest honors in 1978.
Moore returned to Atoka and worked as a community pharmacist for several years. In the mid-1980s, he purchased a pharmacy and became a consultant pharmacist for Atoka Memorial Hospital. In these roles, Moore became very active in rural healthcare and, in addition to these commitments, he also developed his own consultant pharmacy management company. Moore has served as the chief executive officer for the Atoka County Healthcare Authority and administrator for Atoka Memorial Hospital and other rural healthcare agencies in Atoka County.
In professional and community service activities, Moore has served in a variety of roles with the National Rural Hospital Association and is president-elect of that organization. He is active in leadership roles in the Rural Health Association of Oklahoma and has been active in the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association. He has served on various church and education committees in Atoka and is a member of the board of directors of the Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Foundation.
Moore is married to Carolyn Sue Gardner, a SWOSU graduate, and they have two daughters.
