Dumas Wins Cash in SWOSU Research Study
Southwestern Oklahoma State University graduate Zachary Dumas won a $150 cash award by participating in a research study through the university.
Participation in the study was voluntary, and completion of the survey entitled participants to be included in the $150 cash prize drawing. The data collection process ended May 2007.
Jan Noble, director of assessment and testing at SWOSU, said data was collected from SWOSU Fall 2003 freshmen. Additional research included a follow-up survey to detect changes that have taken place from the first time those students completed that same questionnaire. The survey asked questions regarding what types of things are important to students, their future goals, importance of course work and the strategies used to study and seek help at college.
“This will help identify how and what students in college need to be successful and contribute to developing services that students need,” Noble said.
Dumas graduated with honors from SWOSU this past May with a major in communication arts and a minor in management.
Noble said SWOSU appreciates the time and efforts by students who participate in important research.
