Distance Education Providing Opportunities for Students at SWOSU-Sayre
July 31, 2007
Beginning this fall semester, Associate in Science degrees in General Education and General Business can be obtained entirely through distance learning from Southwestern Oklahoma State University-Sayre.
The instruction will be via video telecourses offered through PBS and can be viewed at times convenient to the student.
The telecourses include reading assignments, written assignments that can be submitted by email or regular mail to the instructor, and examinations. On-campus attendance will only be required for the initial orientation meeting and exams.
Landry Brewer on the SWOSU-Sayre campus said the telecourses are ideal for busy adults who work or have children at home. Students can easily arrange their education around their schedule.
Telecourses carry the same university credit as traditional on-campus classes and students can possibly qualify for financial aid help
Brewer said the new distance learning degrees are in addition to night classes SWOSU-Sayre offers each fall and spring to meet the needs of busy adults who want the economic security that a college degree provides.
