First SWOSU Service Summit Set for September 27
The first SWOSU Service Summit Breakfast will be held on Thursday, September 27, on the campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
The summit is an idea to offer an opportunity for non-profit organizations and community groups who use volunteers to get together, talk about shared challenges and resources, and learn about ways SWOSU can help with service, especially service learning.
Dr. Viki Craig is heading up the effort with assistance from SWOSU President John Hays and Provost Blake Sonobe. Invitations have been sent to key personnel in groups that use volunteers. If a group has been omitted, please notify Dr. Craig.
The breakfast is at 7 a.m. in the SWOSU Conference Center, located at the corner of Seventh and Davis Streets on the SWOSU campus. Individuals should RSVP to Dr. Craig by September 24 by calling 580./span> 774-3094 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Many groups in the area use volunteers, and the purpose of this breakfast is to get groups together to see what their needs are,” Craig said
The meeting is informal and participants will learn about several service learning projects involving SWOSU and area communities.
“We can't imagine a better way to get meaningful dialogue going and to demonstrate SWOSU’s willingness to engage more fully with the area communities,” Craig said.
