Chili Cook-Off Planned During SWOSU Homecoming

The 2nd annual SWOSU Chili Cook-Off will take place again this year during Southwestern Oklahoma State University homecoming activities on the Weatherford campus.
The Collegiate Activities Board is holding the cook-off on Saturday, November 3, in the Wellness Center. Proceeds will benefit the “Cancer Relay 4 Life” event later in the school year.
Everyone is invited to participate in the cook-off and attend the event.
Contestant cooks are being asked to bring their own crock-pot with a minimum of two gallons of chili. Contestants may come as early as 2:15 p.m. to set up in the Wellness Center and everyone is asked to be ready by 3 p.m. when judges will pick out the winner.
Everyone else can enjoy the chili starting at 4 p.m. and continuing through 5:30 p.m. Cost is $2 to taste all the entries and $5 for a bowl of the winning chili.
Criteria on which the contestants will be judged are aroma, consistency, taste, after-taste, and appetizing appearance. The winner will be announced at 4 p.m. and will receive a traveling trophy along with a $100 gift certificate to the University Bookstore.
Anyone interested in participating in the SWOSU Chili Cook-Off can pick up an application and guidelines in the Dean of Students Office, Stafford 214 or on the CAB website. There are only 15 slots open and applications are due October 29 at 5 p.m.
“Last years chili cook-off was amazing and we are expecting a great turnout this year,” said CAB Director Heather Leach.
