October 11, 2007

Area residents have the opportunity to learn the art of tapestry in a program that will take place on four consecutive Saturdays starting on October 20 in Weatherford.

SWOSU Art Assistant Professor E.K. Jeong will lead the free classes on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Weatherford Public Library. The class is made possible by SWOSU, the Weatherford Arts Council, Weatherford Public Library and the Oklahoma Arts Council.

Registration can be done at the Weatherford Public Library. Supplies for the class will cost around $15 however scrap yarns, ribbons and fabrics can be used.

Jeong said the classes are open to anyone from the third grade and up, including teachers, parents and students. She said no previous art experience is necessary.

“The classes will be fun and relaxing, so bring your friends and family,” Jeong said. “We’ll make coasters, placemats, decorative wall hangings, and more.”

Attendance to every class is not mandatory. Other class sessions are October 27, November 3 and November 10.
