Seven SWOSU Students Will Compete for the Title of Miss SWOSU 2008

Seven SWOSU students will compete for the title of Miss SWOSU 2008 in the Miss SWOSU Scholarship Pageant coming up Saturday, October 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center on the Weatherford campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Jessica Hilderbrand
Jessica Renee Hilderbrand of Perry is a freshman majoring in pre-nursing. For the talent competition, she plans to perform a lyrical dance with jazz. Her platform issue is supporting cancer treatment/research and raising awareness.
London McCarthey
London McCarthey of Oklahoma City (Westmoore) is a freshman majoring in elementary education. For the talent competition, she plans to sing "I'm Afraid This Must Be Love". Her platform issue is decreasing bullying to increase self esteem.
Rebecca Witt
Rebecca Witt of Tipton is a junior majoring in English Education. For the talent competition, she plans to perform a dramatic monologue entitled "The Accident". Her platform issue is cleft awareness.
Ashley Bledsoe
Ashley Bledsoe of Altus is a senior majoring in health science. For the talent competition, she plans to perform a lyrical dance. Her platform issue is Save Your Smile.
Amber Caudill
Amber Caudill of Duncan is a freshman majoring in psychology. For the talent competition, she plans to perform a colorguard routine. Her platform issue is creating confidence.
Bobbi Poff
Bobbi Poff of Elk City is a junior majoring in speech communication. For the talent competition, she plans to sing "Woman in the Moon". Her platform issue is smoking stinks.
Alison Creach
Alison Creach of Hammon is a junior majoring in health science. For the talent competition, she plans to sing "Big Time". Her platform issue is Possess a Healthy Smile: a Healthy Life.
 

Alison Mainers, former Miss SWOSU and first runner-up to Miss Oklahoma in 2002, will serve as mistress of ceremonies. Entertainers for the evening will be current Miss Southwestern Pinkey Patel, Kendi & Kompany, and Oklahoma Star Ashlynn Karlin.

The winner of this year’s pageant will become the 50th Miss SWOSU. The pageant board is hosting a reunion of former title holders and several activities are planned during the day.

Advance tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and individuals with an SWOSU I.D. card. All tickets at the door are $10. Advance tickets are available in Room 205 of the SWOSU Administration Building; Room 207 of the Stafford Center; and from all contestants.
