SWOSU-Sayre Offering Four Classes This Spring in Elk City
Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Sayre is teaching four more college classes in Elk City during the upcoming 2008 spring semester that begins January 10.
SWOSU-Sayre will offer two night classes and two afternoon classes at Elk City High School. College Algebra and Web Site Design will be taught in Elk City as part of the SWOSU-Sayre night class schedule for the spring semester. Web Site Design will meet Monday nights and College Algebra Thursday nights. Both classes will begin at 6 p.m.
United States History and English Composition II will meet two afternoons each week at Elk City High School. United States History will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:40, and English Composition II will meet Mondays and Wednesdays at 3:40.
“We’re trying to make college more convenient for students,” said Landry Brewer of the SWOSU-Sayre campus. “Many students live in Elk City or nearby towns in directions opposite Sayre, making it difficult for them to come to us. So we’re bringing the classes closer to them.”
Adults and high school students in and around Elk City will benefit. High school seniors who take these courses do not have to pay tuition if they meet certain academic requirements. The program is sponsored by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
“High school juniors and seniors are also eligible to take these classes,” Brewer said. “This is a great way for them to get a jump on college and a career.”
Night classes meet one night a week, and all the SWOSU-Sayre spring classes begin in January and end in early May.
