SWOSU Students and Faculty Participate in Oklahoma Research Day
Students and faculty from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford recently participated in Oklahoma Research Day held in Edmond.
The day featured research posters and oral presentations prepared by Oklahoma students and faculty. With 52 poster presentations registered, SWOSU’s group was one of the largest at the event.
Anita Blankenship, director of sponsored programs at SWOSU, said the research day provides an opportunity for regional university students and faculty from all disciplines to showcase research from their field of study. For lunch, presenters were invited to attend a banquet in their honor with Regent Bill W. Burgess, Jr., chairman of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, as keynote speaker.
The day was organized by the Council on Research for Regional Universities (CRRU) in cooperation with the Jackson College of Graduate Studies & Research at the University of Central Oklahoma. The event was sponsored by Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE), Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST), Oklahoma EPSCoR, National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, INBRE, and several Oklahoma regional universities including SWOSU. Provost Blake Sonobe and Blankenship are SWOSU’s representatives on CRRU.
Participating SWOSU faculty and students represented the following SWOSU Colleges: College of Arts & Sciences (Art, Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Physics, Mathematics, and Social Sciences), College of Professional and Graduate Studies (Athletic Training, Entrepreneurship and Computer Systems, Industrial and Engineering Technology, and Psychology), and College of Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Sciences).
