Living Center Residents to Present Concerts with Aid from SWOSU Music Therapy Students
Students of Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s music therapy program will help residents of the Weatherwood Assisted Living Center of Weatherford and the Angelwood Assisted Living Center of Clinton celebrate the upcoming holiday season with two holiday concerts.
The concerts, under the direction of SWOSU student music therapist Amy Schmidt and program director Dr. ChihChen Sophia Lee, will feature Christmas carols sung and instrumentally performed by the living center residents who have attended weekly music therapy sessions. The carols will be performed in the forms of bell choir and rhythm band.
The concert at Weatherwood Assisted Living Center will be Monday, December 3, at 6 p.m. and the concert at Angelwood Assisted Living Center in Clinton will be Thursday, December 6, at 6 p.m.
Both concerts are open to the public and admission is free.
SWOSU has the only baccalaureate music therapy program in the state of Oklahoma. The program is accredited by the American Music Therapy Association and National Association of School of Music.
