Billington Named To New Position at SWOSU

Wendy Billington is the new violence prevention project coordinator at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

The position at SWOSU is made possible by a three-year grant from the United States Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women. SWOSU is one of six Regional University System of Oklahoma institutions that have established the new position.

Billington said the goal of her position is to minimize the incidence of violence against women on campus and in the community. Job duties include coordinating community events, coordinating and conducting educational programs, implementing referral service for victims, implementing surveys and a database, interaction with partner agencies, and serving as liaison between victims and service providers.

Billington has worked at SWOSU since 2006. She is a native of California who graduated from the University of Colorado. She plans to graduate this May from SWOSU with a master’s degree of secondary education with a focus on social sciences/criminal justice.
