Hughes Wins Southwest Parks & Recreation Training Scholarship
Southwestern Oklahoma State University senior Drew Hughes of Enid recently won the 2008 Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute Undergraduate Scholarship Award.
A graduate of Enid High School, Hughes will graduate this May with a Bachelor of Science in Park Law Enforcement.
He currently serves as a park guide with the National Park Service at the Washita Battlefield National Historic Site in Cheyenne. He plans to begin his graduate degree in Parks and Recreation Management this fall at SWOSU.
The Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute is a regional professional association serving members from Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. Chad Kinder, chair of the SWOSU Department of Parks and Recreation Management, said the mission of SWPRTI is to present and promote educational opportunities to students, professionals, and lay supporters of the broad field of parks and recreation.
