SWOSU Prof Participates in National Women's Leadership Meeting
Dr. Jill Jones, English professor and chair of the Department of Language and Literature at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, recently participated in the 71st National Leadership Forum for Women Leaders at the National Center for Higher Education in Washington, D.C.
One of 23 women chosen for the forum, Jones spent three days at the national American Council of Education office attending seminars and discussion groups on such issues as strategic planning, budgeting, and fundraising; managing multiple constituencies; crisis management; and career mapping.
According to NLFWL Director Donna Burns Phillips, Jones was nominated and selected for the forum because of her strong record of accomplishment, as well as her potential to serve at the highest levels of leadership in higher education. The purpose of the forum was to bring together emerging and established leaders in educational institutions to discuss critical issues and challenges facing the higher education community and provide opportunities for dialogue around personal advancement issues.
“The opportunity to meet and be inspired by dynamic, successful women from all across the nation was the best thing about the meeting,” Jones said.
