Greek Olympics and Redneck Carnival Coming to SWOSU
The Greek Olympics and Redneck Carnival is a fun event planned this Monday, August 25, at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
“Students are so creative at SWOSU but this is off the chart.” said SWOSU Dean of Students Cindy Dougherty.
The Greek Olympics featuring extreme challenges will be held at the Wellness Center parking lot area and the Redneck Carnival featuring “carnival and county fair type games” will be held inside the Wellness Center. Both events start at 7 p.m. and everyone is invited.
“It is open to all and has great prizes,” said Cory Lumley, past president of Kappa Gamma Beta. “There will be good food and fun for everyone.” The prizes include a $500 SWOSU scholarship, a PS2 with two Guitar Hero II guitars, $100 gift card to the University Bookstore, free year of tanning at Paradise Island and much more.
Participants in The Greek Olympics should come “dressed to get dirty,” according to Lumley. Those who wish to participate should sign up at the Wellness Center or the Dean of Students Office (STF 214) up until 7 p.m. on game day. This set of events is sponsored by the SWOSU Greek Council.
The Redneck Carnival will be inside the Wellness Center at the same time. The Redneck Carnival is sponsored by Chi Alpha, one of SWOSU’s Christian Student organizations. Also, the 3rd annual Guns N’ Hoses Tug o’ War will be held at 7:30 during these events. The Weatherford Police Department will take on the Weatherford Fire Department in “two tons of fun”. Each team can have 2,000 pounds of person power on each end of the giant rope.
