SWOSU Hosting Enrollment Session for High School Seniors
Southwestern Oklahoma State University's third New Student Orientation session for incoming freshmen is April 21 on the Weatherford campus.
This is the last session for the spring with the next NSO session scheduled for June 10.
"Some students like to get enrollment taken care of before the summer, so we encourage any student to attend the upcoming April 21 session," said Jena Skarda of the NSO office at SWOSU.
Students must first apply and be accepted to SWOSU before they can attend an orientation session. Each of the orientation sessions offers students the chance to meet current SWOSU students and new freshmen, visit and enroll with a faculty advisor within the major they have selected, and have all their questions answered. They may also take campus and residence hall tours. The students will meet at 9 a.m. in the Fine Arts Center. The program concludes around 1 p.m. when the students pick up their class schedules for the fall semester.
Families are also invited to attend the Family Orientation that runs concurrently with the student orientation. The families meet in the Memorial Student Center Ballroom to hear presentations from the offices of residence life, financial aid, student health and counseling services, violence prevention, auxiliary services, campus police, dean of students, and assessment (testing).
If families plan to bring younger siblings to the session, NSO provides an area to entertain them called Pup's Pit. They can color and make crafts, play computers games, and watch movies.
Additional NSO orientation sessions are June 10, July 20 and August 14.
