SWOSU's Kinder Receives Regional Award
Southwestern Oklahoma State University's Dr. Chad Kinder was recently awarded the 2008-2009 Recreation Professional of the Year Award at the annual meeting of the Southern District Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in Tampa (FL).
The district annually presents the Recreation Professional of the Year Award to professionals in the recreation field who have major responsibility for teaching recreation pre-professionals, professionals conducting recreation programming, or administrators in educational programs.
Nominations are made from peers in the field and the recipient is selected by a panel of recreation professionals from the 13 states of the Southern District, which include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
Dr. Kinder has been employed by SWOSU since 1997. He initially served as the park manager and ranger at Crowder Lake State / University Park. He currently serves as the chair of the Department of Parks and Recreation Management and associate dean of the School of Behavioral Sciences and Education.
