SWOSU Grad Student Selected to Writing Project
Michele Charles, a graduate student in the SWOSU Language and Literature Department in Weatherford, has been selected as one of 16 Oklahoma writing teachers to participate in the annual Summer Institute of the Oklahoma State University Writing Project June 8-July 9.
Charles, a resident of Mountain View and a 1990 SWOSU graduate, will attend the institute June 8 through July 9 in Stillwater. She is currently working on her Master of Education in English and serving as an adjunct instructor and SWOSU Writing Center tutor.
The OSU Writing Project is a part of the National Writing Project, which serves teachers of writing from grades K-college. The OSU Writing Project has been named an exemplary site by the national group for its work on behalf of Oklahoma teachers and school children. Teachers are chosen because of their commitment to teaching writing and their openness to new ideas and approaches to teaching.
Charles will attend the month-long workshop and then serve as a teacher consultant, functioning as a resource teacher to area schools and future Writing Project programs.
