Jones to Participate in Oxford Round Table Forum in England
Dr. Jill Jones, chair of the Department of Language and Literature and professor of English at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, will participate in the Oxford Round Table forum July 5-10 at Oxford University in Oxford, England.
The theme of the meeting is "The Idea of Education in 19th-Century Women's Writing," and Jones' paper, "Netta Syrett's Schooldays" contributes to that theme by sharing information from the memoirs and autobiographical novels of a writer who had firsthand experience with some of the revolutionary educational movements of the time.
The Oxford Round Table, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, provides an opportunity to discuss important policy questions over a five-day period in a collegial, "think-tank" atmosphere. This summer's meeting is at Harris Manchester College, where participants will stay in the dormitory and eat in the traditional dining hall of the college.
The approximate 40 participants will each present a paper and serve as moderator for discussion of a colleague's paper.
