Taulbert to Speak at SWOSU Library Showcase Series
Renowned author and lecturer Clifton L. Taulbert will speak Tuesday, September 22, on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus in Weatherford.
Taulbert, president and founder of The Building Community Institute in Tulsa, will speak at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Student Center Ballroom. Admission is free, and everyone is invited. His presentation is the first event of the 2009-10 Library Showcase Series that is sponsored by SWOSU's Al Harris Library.
Taulbert will be speaking on the "Eight Habits of the Heart". Taulbert is one of America's leading thought-leaders on the "Power of Community" and views community in the workplace as a powerful leadership asset. He was chosen by CNN at the turn of the millennium to represent one of the voices of "Community".
Prior to his present role as a highly sought-after seminar leader and keynote speaker, Taulbert, in 1989, gained international recognition with the publication of the best selling memoir, Once Upon A Time When We Were Colored, which became a major motion picture and has been excerpted in middle school literature books throughout America. In addition to the Pulitzer-nominated biographical work, Last Train North, which followed, Taulbert also authored several nationally recognized picture books for children and the internationally acclaimed, Eight Habits of the Heart -- the principles which serve as the foundation for his company. His most recent publication is Eight Habits of the Heart for Educators which became a National Best Seller in less than six months. It was also awarded the 2006 Book of the Year Award for K-12 Educators by USA Book News.
Copies of Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored and Eight Habits of the Heart will be available for sale at the event by Ratcliffe's Bookstore.
