SWOSU Alumni Association Sponsoring New Bulldog on Campus
There’s going to be a new Bulldog on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus in Weatherford.
The SWOSU Alumni Association Board of Directors recently held its fall meeting, and the board heard an update on the new bronze bulldog, which is being designed and built by SWOSU graduate Frank Moran of Weatherford. The bulldog will be approximately 4 feet tall and 5 feet long and will be placed on the south end of the SWOSU Clock Tower.
Jim Waites, vice president for institutional advancement and head of the SWOSU Alumni Association, said Jim Andrews of Edmond has generously donated money to cover the entire cost of the project, estimated to be $30,000. It is hoped the bulldog will be in place by late spring 2010.
The SWOSU Alumni Association continues to help with various events and activities on the SWOSU campus. The alumni association was a sponsor of the recent Parent’s Day activities held on campus.
The association plans to conduct a membership drive during the months of November and December. Waites also said the SWOSU Foundation Board of Directors will have its fall meeting November 6 on the Weatherford campus. The Foundation, also a big supporter of many SWOSU projects, now has assets of over $12 million.
