SWOSU Homecoming Winners Announced

Jonna May of Prague and Aaron Bark of Oklahoma City (PC North) were crowned Homecoming Queen and King during halftime of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University football game victory that was one of many Homecoming activities October 23-24 on the Weatherford campus.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University's homecoming celebration in Weatherford on October 23-24 was full of events, and winners of the various competitions have been announced.

Jonna May of Prague and Aaron Bark of Oklahoma City (PC North) were crowned Homecoming Queen and King during halftime of the SWOSU football game victory. 

At the parade, SWOSU's Psychology Club won first place and $1,300 in the float competition. Phi Delta Theta/Kappa Delta Omega won second place and $800, while the Wesley Foundation finished third and won $400. 

The prize money was sponsored by the SWOSU Alumni Association, SWOSU Student Government Association and several Weatherford financial institutions. 

In the marching band contest, Sayre High School was named the outstanding band in the high school competition, and Enid High School 9th Grade won top honors in the junior high band competition. Each band won $250 from the SWOSU Student Government Association.

Other band winners were: Middle School-Kingfisher Middle School, first place. Class 2A High School-Maysville High School, first place; and Wheeler (TX) High School, second place. Class 3A High School-Sayre High School, first place; and Snyder High School, second place. Class 4A High School-Weatherford High School, first place. Class 6A High School-Enid High School 9th Grade.

Neff Hall won first place and $300 in the Lawn Decoration contest. Rogers & Jefferson Hall finished second and won $200 and Oklahoma Hall finished third and won $100.

The SWOSU Student Financial Services Office won the staff/faculty contest with its office door display.

In the 5K run/walk, Michael Leverich won the run with a time of 20 minutes. Sean Thornburg finished second with a time of 20 minutes and 22 seconds. Finishing third was Jimmy Hardy with a 20:32 time.

At the Classic Car Show, Marty Sauer of Weatherford won the Best of Show Award with his 1930 Chevrolet.
